Arteta Gets His Man After Long Pursuit
Arsenal have reportedly wrapped up a deal to bring in Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres. The medical is scheduled for today.
The Swedish forward has been on Mikel Arteta’s radar all summer. Now, the move is finally happening. Last season was affected due to injuries to forwards like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. Due to that the Gunners struggled in front of goal during a key period. With that in mind, Arteta has been desperate to sign a proper finisher. It looks like Gyokeres is the man to fill that role.
The two clubs have agreed on a fee of around £64m. As per reports, the paperwork is nearly done.
New Signing Ready to Light Up Arsenal
Gyokeres has been in wonderful form at Sporting, scoring an incredible 39 goals in just 33 matches in all competitions. He scored a hat-trick versus Manchester City in the Champions League as well. It is easy to see why his performances will have turned heads.
Man United were showing interest in him too, but Arsenal acted faster and have agreed to all terms with Sporting. The striker had the green light to travel to London for his medical. Gyokeres is likely to wear the shirt with No.14. Thierry Henry also wore that famous number.
Meanwhile, Arteta has been building a squad that he thinks is capable of winning trophies. Now, Gyokeres will be leading the line for Arsenal, it is easy to see the fireworks waiting to go off. The move is going to be official soon. That said, all eyes will be on today’s medical as the final step before unveiling their new star striker.
