Arsenal End Pursuit of Superstar Forward

Real Madrid

Despite early hopes, Arsenal have officially ended their chase for Real Madrid’s star forward Rodrygo.

Arsenal Prioritize Striker Signing Over Rodrygo Pursuit

Arsenal have reportedly backed out of a deal for Brazilian forward Rodrygo. He was once seen as a dream signing by head coach Mikel Arteta.

The North London side is now closing in on Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres. So, their search for a new number nine looks to be complete. The striker has been in top form in Portugal. He is likely to arrive very soon. He will be leading the Arsenal’s attack next campaign.

Arteta has been busy this summer. The club’s big spending is set to cross £200m once the Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera deals are confirmed. So, that has forced them to make tough calls. Unfortunately, Rodrygo’s price tag and Real Madrid‘s stance meant the Gunners couldn’t wait any longer.

‘World-Class’ Star Slips Away As Gunners Run Out of Patience

Rodrygo had long been admired by Arteta and Arsenal’s transfer chief Andrea Berta. But, Real Madrid are holding on a decision. Also, the player is not getting regular game time under Xabi Alonso. Although, now the Gunners have decided to walk away.

Reportedly, the situation was not going to improve and Gunners simply couldn’t afford to keep their summer plans on hold.

Madueke is a talented addition. But, he doesn’t bring the same top experience that Rodrygo offers. Many will feel that this is a lost opportunity, particularly knowing the Brazilian’s previous big-game quality.

That said, Gyokeres is arriving, as well as other good support players. Arteta’s side has a great chance to chase serious trophies again next season. Though, Rodrygo won’t contribute to that chase. But, the Gunners are confident on their next season’s new look team. They will be the one to fight for silverware for the club.
