Reports suggest that Arsenal are showing serious interest in Spanish striker.
Bolstering the attack
The season has brought with it a tough time for Mikel Arteta’s squad in terms of attack. Arsenal has frequently been short-handed in the offense department because of the injuries of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. The summer signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP was meant to be the solution to the issue. But, the Swede’s unconvincing beginning has left fans expecting more.
With only a few goals scored in his first nine games, Gyokeres is still not in the groove. The team was expecting more from him. Havertz’s new injury setback has only deepened the concern. That is leaving Arteta with limited choices in attack.
Spanish striker on radar for Arsenal
As per reports, Arsenal has been monitoring closely the performances of Samu Aghehowa. The young player from Porto has been mesmerizing the eyes of critics all over Europe. His games has led to rising interest from the big clubs. But, the Gunners seem particularly interested by the idea of his being a great player one day.
The contract of Aghehowa with Porto lasts until 2029. They also have a buy-out clause of about £87m attached to it. Meanwhile, Porto would not be keen on selling their star player. But, it would be a big PL club that could make a strong enough offer to get the ball rolling.
Author’s opinion:
Arsenal’s interest in Aghehowa seems to be a right and daring move at the right moment. The team is in search of a dependable striker who could easily match the tempo of the PL. The player from Porto looks like he is already prepared for such advancement. Should Arsenal get the call right and quick, they could end up with their future number nine.
