Arsenal Eyeing “Monster” £113m Sesko Alternative

Arsenal

Premier League giants Arsenal want to reinforce their attacking options this summer transfer window. As the transfer window is now open, the Gunners are looking for possibilities to strengthen their forward options.

Arsenal ‘s Urgent Need for a Striker

Moreover, in January, it was known that Arsenal are in definite need of a new striker. Mikel Arteta’s squad had won only one match in their last five Premier League matches, mostly due to poor performance in front of goal. Also, during the 3 games around new year, the Gunners took 61 shots on goal but managed to score only once.

However, the team still did not sign a new striker and yet went on to score a lot of goals, thus staying in the title race. It explains that football is an unpredictable game. Nevertheless, the Gunners would not like to rely on luck, and thus would want to secure a reliable attacker this summer.

Arsenal’s Striker Search: Sesko and Osimhen

Hence, one of their option is RB Leipzig’s forward Benjamin Sesko. Moreover, according to The Mirror report, Sesko is willing to join the Gunners. And, another report suggests that Arsenal have sent a bid to sign the young striker. Moreover, Sesko isn’t the only attacker on Arsenal’s list.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Arsenal is also considering signing Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker has the attention of various clubs, including PSG and Saudi Pro league’s Al-Hilal. Osimhen’s release clause is very high and is £113 million. Thus this will be a potentially record-breaking deal for the Emirates Stadium.

Comparing Osimhen and Sesko

Moreover by signing Sesko, Arsenal would include a promising talent to their squad. Thus, unlike Manchester United with Hojlund and Liverpool withNunez, Arsenal won’t have to force Sesko straight into the team. As Arteta already has experienced attackers like Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz who were exceptional in the 2023/24 season. Also, Havertz scored 8 goals and gave 7 assists in 18 matches this season.

Thus Arteta could use Sesko as a strategic player for some time. The Slovenian international, scored 18 goals last season and yet can improve a lot as he is just 21.

Meanwhile, signing an experienced and proven striker like Osimhen would mean they follow a different approach. Analyst Raj Chohan mentioned Osimhen as a “monster,” thus calling him a goal machine. The Nigerian scored 17 goals last season. And he also led Napoli’s attack in their title winning run in 2022/23.

Arsenal’s Strategic Decision

Moreover, Sesko has the potential and can still develop a lot. Whereas, Osimhen offers an immediate threat for the team. His ability to score goals and create chances for others make him an important player. Thus signing Osimhen would not just strengthen Arsenal’s attack but also send a message that Arsenal are ready to win the title. The message would be specially to Manchester City showing the Gunners are ready to compete for the Premier League title.

Moreover, with the aim to return the past glory to their loyal Fans, Arsenal must make a clear and concrete decision between Sesko and Osimhen. The summer transfer window is the time when they have to make the decision. It would be interesting to see whether Arsenal opts for the raw talent of Sesko or the experienced Osimhen to lead their attacking lineup in the coming seasons.
