Liverpool Join Arsenal & Chelsea in Race for Malick Fofana

Lyon could be forced to sell their winger Malick Fofana this summer. Now, Liverpool have entered the picture alongside Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Reds have been in contact with the agents of the Belgian. They are looking for options to improve their attacking unit. Following the talk of Luis Diaz’s exit, Fofana is being seen as a replacement.

Last season in Ligue 1, the young player caught the eyes of clubs across Europe. He has the ability to add pace, flair and depth to Liverpool’s wings. He fits the physical profile required for the EPL as well.

Lyon are reportedly asking €50–60m for the winger. Although, no club has sent a formal bid yet. Fofana’s former club KAA Gent is entitled to 20% of any profit from the sale. That means Lyon will be looking to get the best deal possible.

Liverpool are not the only club interested in Fofana. Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle are all monitoring Fofana’s situation too. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have struggled to find regular attacking width last season.

The youngster is a player with great potential. With his directness, technical ability and goal scoring instinct he would be an top option. These PL teams are looking to bring in some more energy back in their attacking play.

In addition, Napoli and Juventus are keeping tabs on him as well. Napoli are preparing a bid of around €30m for the winger. However, it seems the English clubs who will offer more better deals and quicker routes to regular first-team football.

Talks are ongoing behind the scenes and for now Fofana’s future remains unknown. But, it looks increasingly likely he will make the move to England.
