Arsenal might have used Douglas Luiz as a fake for others

Arsenal

Douglas Luiz completed his transfer from Aston Villa to Juventus with Arsenal missing out on the chance or did they?

Following the transfer of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa to Juventus, Arsenal missed out on the chance to sign the Brazilian midfielder. Reports indicate that Mikel Arteta’s team has long been interested in Luiz. However, the deal didn’t happen as the midfielder helped Aston Villa qualify for the Champions League next year.

The side narrowly missed the title by just 2 points in the 2023/24 season losing out to Man City. Now, the Gunners will focus somewhere else as Arteta looks to clinch the Premier League title since 2004.

But could the Gunners have used Douglas Luiz as a fake to hide the real deals? Football Express analyzes 4 players with the possibility of joining the North London club.

Martin Zubimendi

Declan Rice has joined the Arsenal side and the Gunners are probably on the lookout for another central midfielder. And Arsenal are said to be focusing on the Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi for the past year.

Reports indicate that Zubimendi has already rejected the Gunners with La Liga giants Barcelona also pursuing the Spanish star. A move to Barcelona could be a possibilty.

However, Arteta might be able to convince the Spaniard to move to London. This would be helpful for both the Gunners and Zubimendi to reach the peak of his career.

Bruno Guimaraes

If boss Mikel Arteta would be looking for an experienced Premier League star, he might look upon Bruno Guimaraes. The current Newcastle player has been dominating the English league ever since he joined.

With an impressive stat of seven goals and ten assists last season, surely the midfielder will be in the target of Arteta. The Arsenal side could very well take benefits of the services of this Brazilian.

It is believed that Newcastle might be open to selling the Brazillian due to the profit and sustainability rules. His physical fitness and technical attributes would ensure that Guimaraes suceed at North London.

Amadou Onana

Another Premier League star Amadou Onana from Everton could be on the list of Arteta. The Belgian National player has been a key factor in Everton avoiding relegation. Arsenal would well be on the lookout for this young midfielder.

The 22-year old meets the right physical attributes to support the North London side clinch the title both on and off field. The youngster is currently helping his national team Belgium in the Euros 2024 and didn’t miss a single minute in the group stage of the same.

Joao Gomes

Wolves’ midfielder Gomes is another Premier League star which could come to North London. The Brazillian would probably clinch the first chance he gets to join the Arsenal side and his work rate could very well favour him at the Gunners.

The 23-year old played a major role in ensuring his team secures 14th last season.
