Arsenal must pay £35m up front to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze. That’s the demand from the Eagles as they fight to hold onto their star midfielder.
Crystal Palace Set Firm Terms for Eze Deal
Crystal Palace are standing their ground when it comes to letting go of Eberechi Eze. The club has made it clear that any potential buyer, including Arsenal, must pay a major portion of the fee upfront.
The Eagles want £35m in advance from the total £67.5m price tag if the transfer goes through. This strong stance comes after losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich for £51m. They don’t want a repeat.
The Queens Park Rangers are set to receive 15% of any profit from a sale. That said, Palace are determined to stick to their valuation. The release clause in Eze’s contract will expire before the EPL season begins on August 15. But, Palace won’t drop the price even after the clause lapses it seems.
Arsenal Keen but Must Make Room
The Gunners have already opened talks with Eze’s camp. The player is believed to be open to a return to North London, where he was let go as a teenager. Mikel Arteta sees the player as a perfect fit for his creative midfield setup. But, the price tag could force the club to balance the books.
The North London side might have to sell some names to fund the move. Players like Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard are reportedly available for transfer. While Arsenal are not new to big-money deals, the demand for such a large payment could test their resolve.
Still, with Eze’s flair, ball control and PL experience, he could be the game-changer for Arteta. But to get him, Arsenal must play by Palace’s rules.
