Arsenal Told to Consider Calvert-Lewin

Arsenal have been urged to sign former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Calvert-Lewin To Arsenal ?

Former Arsenal attacker Jeremie Aliadiere urges the Gunners to take a look at former Everton striker now a free agent.

The North London side look very close to wrapping up the £63.7m of Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres. But, Aliadiere believes the club shouldn’t overlook the value of Calvert-Lewin. The player has suffered a dip in form and fitness. But, he still has years of PL experience, and could be a good backup option.

Head coach Mikel Arteta has already added a number of new faces this summer transfer window. He wants squad depth as it is important for a title push with multiple competitions. So, there’s no harm in having another good striker.

Injuries Hurt His Progress but Talent Remains

Calvert-Lewin has had injuries in recent seasons and only scored three goals in 26 league games last year. A three-month spell on the sidelines hurt his fitness and rhythm. After over nine years at Everton he was released. There’s no doubt in the talent he had at his peak.

In the 2019-20 season, he bagged 15 goals across all competitions. Then, he followed that up with a improved 21 goal season. He did not score those goals by luck. He will be coming in as a free transfer as well.

Meanwhile, the market for strikers is changing all the time. So, health is always going to be an issue being for a player. He has proven to add some fire to an attack. He could be beneficial for Arsenal if a need arises.

Though, current focus is on completing the Gyokeres deal. But, scouting and perhaps even considering the free agents like Dominic Calvert-Lewin could help Arsenal gain an advantage. The 2025/26 season is going to be a long and tough season.
