Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are preparing for a swap deal for landing Crystal Palace’s standout midfielder Eberechi Eze.
Eze Becomes Top Priority For Arteta
With Viktor Gyokeres now in the team, Arsenal have shifted gears towards signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
The Gunners view the attacking midfielder as a key piece in their push for UCL glory next season. Eze’s stellar form in recent months has got him praises from across Europe. He had his contributions to Palace’s FA Cup triumph as well. Also, his rise into the England squad has made him one of the most talked-about players in the Premier League.
Arsenal believe he fits their system perfectly and are hoping to strike a deal worth around £60m. That is slightly under his £68m release clause. Reports suggest Eze is open to the move. And people close to the player are optimistic about a transfer happening soon.
Reiss Nelson Could Be Part of the Swap
The North London side want to sweeten the deal and avoid paying the whole release fee. That said, Arsenal could offer Reiss Nelson as part of the move. The winger has shown promise early in his career but has not been able to find a permanent spot in the first XI.
The player has recently completed loan spells at Hoffenheim, Feyenoord and Fulham. However, Nelson seems to be out of Mikel Arteta’s future plans at Emirates. Although, a switch to Selhurst Park could give him the fresh start he needs. Palace may see real value in the 24-year-old. He has clocked over 90 games in an Arsenal shirt as well.
Meanwhile. there are no direct talks between the clubs yet. But, Gunners are likely to make their move soon. If all things fall into place, both teams could benefit. Arsenal can bring in in a top playmaker, and Palace can add Nelson as a replacement.
