Atalanta forward eyeing Arsenal move

Arsenal are lining up a late move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman. He has already shifted base to London after making it clear he wants out of Serie A.

Arsenal keeping tabs on Atalanta forward

Mikel Arteta’s summer rebuild has already seen more than £250m spent on fresh faces. But, Arsenal’s transfer hunt isn’t over yet.

The Gunners are now monitoring Ademola Lookman after the winger officially requested to leave Atalanta. The player is hailed as ‘world-class’ by many, has fallen out with the club and sees no way back. A move to Inter Milan collapsed over Atalanta’s asking price. So, that leaves the door open for Arsenal to make their move.

What makes this story hotter is that Lookman has already packed his bags for London. That is a signal that he’s pushing for a EPL return. The Serie A side want around £45m for him but are dragging their feet until they find a replacement. Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz is topping their wishlist. Talks are on hold at the moment.

Injuries spark Gunners interest

The timing of Arsenal’s interest is no coincidence. Bukayo Saka is out with a hamstring issue and Kai Havertz is yet to have further scans on a knee injury. Arteta is missing attacking options at the moment, the need for another wide player is key.

The north London side need another winger. Lookman has performed well previously at Fulham and Everton. That gives a strong option with his pace and directness alongside his EPL experience.

If Atalanta finally soften their stance and Fulham agree to release Muniz, Arsenal have a chance. They could swoop in before deadline day to land the player.

Author’s Opinion

Lookman to Arsenal makes a lot of sense, especially given the injury issues. If the price is right, this could be one of the smartest late-window moves of the summer.
