Bayern Munich have reportedly contacted Arsenal regarding Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
Bayern Make Move for Arsenal Forwards
Bayern Munich are reportedly in talks with Arsenal for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
In the most recent edition of Christian Falk’s CF Bayern Insider column, Falk mentions that Bayern has made contact with the Gunners for both wingers.
While Trossard is now in his late twenties and may not have a large future transfer fee. So, that could tempt Arsenal to take the money now. Martinelli also had a little to no impact last season. Although, he has a chance to be a long term property. He could be worth much more as a long term asset.
Gunners at a Crossroads with Attack Options
The Gunners are reportedly pursuing other attacking targets like Viktor Gyokeres and Rodrygo Goes. This hints at a major changes in their forward line.
But, allowing both Martinelli and Trossard to leave could backfire. Arsenal’s attackers had difficulty being consistent last campaign. Also, no player hit double figures in the league for goals. Losing two talented options might leave Mikel Arteta short on firepower.
Meanwhile, Trossard could bring in a good fee before his value dips with age. But, Martinelli’s sale would lead to doubts given his youth and potential. Both players have been used as key depth options. They have been used as a cover when injuries hit or offering tactical flexibility off the bench. Selling them may free up funds, but it would also increase the pressure on any new signings to make their impact instantly.
For now, the North London side must look at the bigger picture. More changes in their squad are very likely ahead of another demanding campaign. It will be interesting to see how the Gunners react to this during this summer window.
