Bayern Close In on Chelsea Star Nkunku as Man Utd Trail Behind

Bayern Munich want to sign Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku as they target an attacker this close season. The Bundesliga outfit are now doing battle with Manchester United, who have been keen on the Frenchman themselves.

Bayern Target Nkunku to Fill Musiala Gap

Bayern’s new attempt to land Nkunku comes in the wake of Jamal Musiala’s injury, which has left them severely weakened up top. Nkunku’s versatility as a No.10, second striker or out wide would therefore be an ideal short-term fill-in. Bayern have already held initial talks with Nkunku’s agent, Pini Zahavi, over a permanent transfer, per reports.

The Germans had earlier tracked Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams, however they subsequently put a freeze on the former and did not have the funds to move for the latter. Nkunku made a big impact during a spell in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig and he is seen by several as a player who might quickly settle and thrive under Vincent Kompany.

Musiala’s absence provides Bayern Munich with no natural creator, and Nkunku is the potential plug-in answer. Bayern’s board apparently views Nkunku as an adaptable option who could rotate with and or back up Harry Kane, particularly during a congested domestic and European schedule.

Chelsea Demand £60m Amid Growing Competition

Chelsea want a permanent deal for Nkunku and have ruled out any loan options. Blues chiefs set a price tag of around £60–65m for the 27-year-old, far exceeding the £35m Manchester United were ready to offer.

Despite United’s interest, Nkunku reportedly prefers a return to Germany, which gives Bayern a clear advantage in the race. Inter Milan and clubs in Saudi Arabia have also been tracking him but he wants to continue in European football.

Nkunku arrived at Chelsea in 2023 and had moments of promise, but injuries hampered his first season in England. And with discussions already progressing and Nkunku eager for the switch, a return to the Bundesliga stage rises further and further into the realms of possibility.
