Buonanotte opens his Chelsea account against Lincoln City

Facundo Buonanotte scored his goal for Chelsea against Lincoln City. He helped the Blues snatch a late win.

Buonanotte heroics against Lincoln turns the game around

Chelsea looked shaky in the first half of their Carabao Cup clash against Lincoln City. The League One side shocked the Blues with a opener in the 42nd minute. At that stage, Chelsea found it very hard to get going. They just had three shots, with none on target, while Lincoln enjoyed nine attempts, with three on target. Buonanotte, on only his second appearance for the Blues, was rather quiet in the first half. He was not finding his footing going forward.

The second half saw Chelsea’s best performance of the match. Tyrique George equalized early on with an excellent strike, and two minutes later, Buonanotte was on the scoresheet. That finish not only gave Chelsea the lead but also marked his first goal for the club. His contribution was tidy, three shots and a great passing record showed his growing confidence.

Promising start to a loan spell

The Argentine has joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Brighton. The Blues made a deal worth around £2m. He has recently looked in good form during pre-season and in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break. There, he scored three goals.

Buonanotte’s goal on his debut says much about him. He has put a strong case forward to get more minutes in the Chelsea set-up. He has the ability to participate in the build-up, dribble to confront defenders and finish the opportunity. This will mean that he will also become of great importance at key points this season.

Author’s Opinion:

Buonanotte showed that he has got real potential in him. He needs to back his confidence and he could become one of Chelsea’s key performers this campaign.
