Chelsea and Barcelona are circling River Plate teenage sensation. Both clubs are eager to snap him up before his value soars.
River Plate star being tracked by Chelsea
Chelsea is seeking new attacking options, and young Ian Subiabre is on their radar. The River Plate forward is one of Argentina’s most enticing talents. The Blues view him as a long term piece in their rebuild.
Chelsea’s frontline lacks consistent goals. So, the club wants to bring in another young hungry forward like Subiabre. That would give themselves an edge for the next several years. Enzo Maresca’s side has shown that they are a club that will invest in youth. They aren’t afraid to pay the price when they see future potential. The chance to play in the Premier League puts them in strong position to sign the teenager.
That being said, River Plate is eager to retain his prized asset. The board is already pushing Subiabre to sign a new deal that would tie him to the club long-term. It remains unclear if the young man will sign, especially with top European clubs making a call.
Barcelona enter the chase
Barcelona have also joined the race. For many South American talents, Spain is often the dream destination. Barca’s reputation for nurturing youngsters could sway Subiabre. He may see their setup as the perfect place to refine his craft.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have been monitoring him as well. But, as per River Noticias, Chelsea and Barcelona are leading the race. Both teams will be able to offer him a way to the top. But, his decision could come down to which club offers the best opportunity for development.
Author’s Opinion:
Subiabre’s next move will define his career. Chelsea can give him PL exposure, but Barcelona’s history with young stars is hard to overlook. Either way, this kid looks destined for big things.
