Currently Bayern Munich is competing with Chelsea for the striker but several news are claiming that the Blues are ahead of the German giants in Marc Guiu transfer saga.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said, ‘Chelsea are advancing in talks to sign Marc Guiu by triggering €6m release clause. The agreement with Guiu on long term deal is getting closer, Bayern overtaken after positive talks this weekend. Barça offered Guiu new deal — still no final answer from player’s side.

Who is this young Barcelona player?

Over the years Barcelona academy La Masia has been producing some highly talented players. Some of them have become legends of the game. The list includes Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, and many more. Marc Guiu is also a product of La Masia. He has come through the ranks of La Masia academy. Why Chelsea need a striker?

Previous season Chelsea played most of the games with a single striker. They didn’t have any backup striker for Nicolas Jackson because they loaned out Armando Broja to Fulham after few games. That is why the Blues are in need of a backup striker who can compete for the position with Nicolas Jackson. This strategy will improve the Chelsea’s performance. If Enzo Maresca wants to employ a system that consists two strikers, he can play both of them. Two strikers will certainly improve their goal scoring opportunities because this system allows them to thread passes and build a link-up play.

This tactics is certainly effective in counter attacking style football. We have seen this strategy when Antonio Conte was the coach of Chelsea. Willian, Hazard and Diego Costa were the three main players who used to build the link-up play in Chelsea’s counter attack. With this move they used to catch their opponents off guard.
