Chelsea eye trio of exciting young talents as attacking midfield transfer remains key priority.
Midfield creativity back on minds of Chelsea
Chelsea’s transfer scouts are at work again, this time with a sharp focus on finding stars for their attacking midfield. After a busy summer window, the Blues are still not satisfied with their attacking balance.
Missing out on Xavi Simons left a gap in the creative unit. Now, the West London club wants to fix it quickly. Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa has jumped straight to the top of their wish list. His rise at Villa has been eye-catching. Chelsea believe he could be the right fit.
The catch is simple, Villa know his value and will not let him go without a fight. Meanwhile, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City all tracking him as well. So, the Blues may have to prepare for a bidding battle in the months ahead.
Other names on the shortlist
Chelsea are not putting all their eggs in one basket. Juventus talent Kenan Yildiz and Lyon’s Malick Fofana are also firmly on their radar. Both players fit the club’s drive for young, energetic and technically gifted attackers. Both of whom can make a difference in the final third.
Enzo Maresca’s side had shown serious intent for Simons and even tried to swoop late for Arsenal’ Ethan Nwaneri. But, neither move went their way. What this really means is that the Blues are determined not to miss out again.
They will keep funds aside to make at least one major signing. The club wants to ensure that the team gets the creative spark they still lack. Rogers is the priority, but Yildiz and Fofana remain strong options if the Villa forward proves out of reach.
Author’s Opinion:
Chelsea clearly understand where they fell short last season. They will try their best to land Rogers or one of the other youngsters. Should that happen, it could finally unlock the attacking rhythm fans have been waiting to see.
