Chelsea defender set for winter exit

Blues Eyeing Serie A’s Top Scorer to Improve Their Attack

Chelsea defender is likely set for winter exit with London rivals increasing interest as move looms.

January exit on the cards for Chelsea defender

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi looked set to leave the Blues this summer. But, an AS Monaco move fell through at the last minute due to the club’s loan quota restrictions.

After joining the Blues in 2023, the Frenchman finds himself out of Enzo Maresca’s plans. It has been stated across the agents market that a move will be likely in the coming months.

It is now inevitable that Disasi will leave the club this January, CaughtOffside has claimed.

The player looked likely to quickly return to AS Monaco during the summer. This update came after reportedly coming to a verbal agreement between the two clubs.

While Chelsea attempted to make this move happen, it ultimately fell through due to FIFA’s rules surrounding international loans. When the Blues loaned striker Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich, they used their final loaning opportunity. So, that meant they were unable to get him back to Ligue 1.

Disasi is not even in the plans of the first team. Maresca excluded him from the Chelsea PL squad list at the beginning of the season. That means he is most likely what has been dubbed as the “bomb squad.”

Chelsea were working on the exit. But, the summer window ended with no real offers. There are situations that could change come January and three possible clubs have emerged.

PL clubs circling

Crystal Palace are monitoring developments. Marc Guehi is likely to make a potential big money move to Liverpool. So, the Eagles view Disasi is seen as a loan replacement.

West Ham United have also been shown interest. But, reports suggest the player is doubtful about a move to East London. This comes despite Graham Potter’s playing history with Disasi.

The third and perhaps the most realistic option is to go abroad. Saudi club Neom FC are being keen to add Disasi to their ambitious project. The Saudi window remains open later than Europe, so remains on the table.

Author’s Opinion:

Axel Disasi is contracted to Chelsea until 2029, but with his decline in form it is clear a move is happening.
