Paris Saint-Germain face their own crossroads with Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future up in the air. A key meeting will take place this week between the French champions and the shot-stopper’s entourage as a decision will be made regarding whether to keep or sell him in the summer transfer window. With their discussion of a contract extension stalling, multiple clubs are waiting for them to dive in.
PSG open to foreign bids as Chevalier move progresses
PSG have now officially opened the door for foreign club to begin negotiations. The Ligue 1 outfit do not want a repeat of the Kylian Mbappé episode, as they saw a superstar leave for free. Donnarumma’s contract only runs until 2026, but with negotiations yet to reach a successful conclusion, the club is willing to cash in as early as the summer, or even January at the very latest.
The crux of the issue lies in the Italian’s salary demands, with Donnarumma asking for around €12 million per year — a figure PSG refuse to meet. And elsewhere, the club is closing in on a €40 million deal for Lille’s Lucas Chevalier — a move that smacks of some serious planning for the post-Donnarumma era.
Chelsea and Galatasaray among frontrunners
Chelsea immediately find themselves in the mix. Having seen both Kepa Arrizabalaga and Djordje Petrovic depart the club, new coach Enzo Maresca already has a depleted goalkeeping roster to work with too. Robert Sánchez is still the only senior option available and Chelsea are looking at high-profile alternatives. Donnarumma, 25, is a long-term No. 1 with Champions League pedigree.
Galatasaray also have offered an attractive deal and are in talks with Donnarumma’s entourage. Both Manchester United and Bayern Munich are among those to still hold interest but, news just in, here are two clubs who sit in pole position – Chelsea and Galatasaray.
