Chelsea are showing interest in Como star Nico Paz, with the club eager to strengthen their creative options.
Midfield creativity under the spotlight
Chelsea has been exposed for a lack of depth in the attacking midfield role in recent weeks. With Cole Palmer out of action, the Blues looked blunt against Brighton, losing 3-1. Andrey Santos did not have much of an impact. Enzo Fernandez did manage to grab a goal, but questions over his creativity remain.
Palmer’s absence against Man Utd also told its own story. The Blues fell 2-1 after he limped off early with a groin issue. Head coach Enzo Maresca knows he needs fresh options in that role.
As per reports, Chelsea are keeping a close eye on rising star Nico Paz. The youngster is currently turning heads at Como. But, Real Madrid are keen to bring him back into their fold.
Nico Paz fits the Chelsea system
The Argentinian has been shining in Serie A. He has scored six and set up nine in his debut campaign. For this season, he has six contributions in just five games. These stats are catching the attention of top clubs.
For Chelsea, his age is another major plus. The Blues have made a habit of investing in young talents, and Paz ticks that box perfectly. With Palmer still working back to full fitness, adding a player capable of creating and scoring would be a huge boost to Maresca’s plans.
Although, Real Madrid may still fancy their chances of bringing him back. But, a move to the Blues could be the next big step in Paz’s career.
Author’s Opinion:
Chelsea need new energy in midfield, and Paz seems to fit the bill in terms of quality and youth. If the club moves fast, he could be a difference-maker at for the Blues.
