Chelsea are tracking Vasco da Gama forward Rayan. The Brazilian youngster has caught the eye of PL scouts.
Vasco da Gama star on Chelsea radar
Rayan, 19, is another amazing talent coming out of Brazil. He has been developing at Vasco da Gama. Since then, his numbers speak volumes. He is close to 100 senior appearances and 13 direct goal contributions this season. These numbers show a player developing quickly at a young age and on a big stage. His speed, ability and confidence has made him a threat for defenders in Brazil.
It’s no surprise that Europe’s big clubs have been circling. As per reports, Chelsea and Tottenham are keeping tabs on the Brazil U20 international. Vasco have already turned down and rejected a bid from Porto. The club has slapped a huge £34m price tag on their young star.
London clubs on alert
Both Chelsea and Spurs have clear reasons for chasing Rayan. Tottenham need fresh firepower after Son Heung-min’s exit to MLS. That said, Rayan’s direct style would bring pace and flair into the Thomas Franks’ front line.
Meanwhile, the West London side have doubled down on the Brazilian market in recent years. The Blues have already brought in Estevao Willian and Andrey Santos. That connection with Vasco could tilt the race in Enzo Maresca’s favour.
Although, Rayan’s contract runs until 2026. But, Vasco may be forced to make a call if the bids from top clubs start coming. For now, the PL is bracing for a battle over one of South America’s brightest attacking gems.
Author’s Opinion:
Rayan isn’t just another wonderkid from Brazil being linked to Europe. His consistency and workrate at such a young age makes him a serious catch. If Chelsea lean on their Vasco ties, Spurs may struggle to win this race.
