Chelsea receive official bid from PL club for Serbian shot-stopper

FINANCIAL FAIR PLAY

Chelsea have received official offer from Premier League club for their Serbian shot-stopper. The club in question already had another Blues keeper with them on loan last season.

The star in question here is Djordje Petrovic. He is 25 year old Serbian keeper whom the Blues signed in summer 2023. But, he was unable to impress at Stamford Bridge due to which he was sent on loan last season to Strasbourg. The player then had superb season in France.

Petrovic was one of the best keepers in Ligue 1 last season. But, Chelsea have no intention to keep him. They are keen to sell him permanently. The 25 year old has also been dropped from the CWC squad by Enzo Maresca. Hence, an away move is surely on the cards.

Chelsea receive official bid for Djordje Petrovic

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have received official bid for Petrovic from Bournemouth. He added that negotiations are currently ongoing. The player is ready to join the Cherries. Lastly, Romano said that nothing was close with Sunderland but now Bournemouth are confident of landing the Serbian keeper.

Bournemouth had Kepa on loan from Chelsea for entire last season. The Spaniard has now joined Arsenal for only £5 million. The Cherries are now willing to sign another keeper from the Blues who is very young than Kepa. The Serbian will be a long-term investment.

Chelsea are willing to sign a new goalkeeper this summer. They failed to land Mike Maignan before the Club World Cup. But, the Blues are not willing to keep Robert Sanchez as their first-choice keeper. On the other hand, Filip Jorgensen is too young to be trusted with the starting role. Hence, Enzo Mareca wants experienced keeper who can be an upgrade on Sanchez. It will be interesting to see how the Blues approach the transfer window.
