One Chelsea star is close to sign for newly promoted Premier League club. The Blues are ready to sell him this summer despite him being superb in 2024/25 season. The player is not in the plans for head coach Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea are making multiple moved in the summer window. As of now, they are only focused on new signings. The Blues have signed some top attackers and will soon turn their attention to defence. They are expected to sign some top defenders along with new keeper.
But, the Blues also need to focus on selling their current stars. They were on the verge of breaching PSR last summer. It is no different this year as they have made lots of signings. Enzo Maresca has already identified the players who will have no future at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea keeper wanted by newly promoted Premier League side
The star in question here is Djordje Petrovic. According to Sacha Tavolieri, the 25 year old is wanted by Sunderland this summer. Sunderland are keen to improve their squad in order to keep their place in Premier League. They are very close to agree a deal with Chelsea.
Petrovic will be offered a 5 year contract by Sunderland. He will cost €25 million and can be a good long-term option. Petrovic is not in the future plans of Enzo Maresca. He has been left out of the Club World Cup squad by the Italian boss. Hence, the 25 year old is ready to move away.
Petrovic had a superb 2024/25 season on loan. But, it was not enough for him to establish himself in Chelsea’s squad. The Blues were trying to sign Mike Maignan but the deal collapsed. They are still in hunt of new keeper as Robert Sanchez has not been able to impress.
