Chelsea tells a 19-year-old to get ready for pre-season

Chelsea

Chelsea are ready to try out almost every player in their squad in the pre-season. They want to assess their situation and understand how to utilise everyone perfectly. Alongside buying players from the transfer market, the Blues are planning to improve their squad depth by training their young upcoming players. Chelsea tells 19-year-old Angelo Gabriel to be ready to play in the pre-season tour in the USA.

Maresca’s ideas on how to improve Chelsea

Chelsea went on a roller coaster journey in the previous season. They spent most of their time in the bottom half of the table, gained their form in the final third of the season and finished at the 6th spot. They qualified for UEFA Europa League, however, after Manchester United’s FA Cup victory, the Blues now have to participate in the Conference League.

As the season ended, the fans’ hopes started emerging again. They saw their players playing freely and better under Pochettino. But the Blues sacked Mauricio Pochettino after the season and appointed Italian manager, Enzo Maresca. The Italian came with a plan on how he would try and improve this team which will compete for the league title.

Maresca has identified that Chelsea needs better defenders. With Thiago Silva leaving the club, they need to find a defender with qualities which are somewhat similar to the Brazilian. Chelsea have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo as a free agent and are observing many other players. But Chelsea don’t want to make the same mistakes like the previous season where they only bought and sold players. Maresca wants to give equal chances to every player in the squad and decide whom he would keep in and let go.

One of the young players whom Maresca has an eye on is 19-year-old Angelo Gabriel. The youngster was sent on a loan to RC Strasbourg. The Brazilian had a decent season there as he only registered 3 assists in 27 games. But as a 19 year old, sometimes it might take time to adjust.

How are Chelsea looking at Angelo?

Even though Maresca has informed Angelo to be ready, it looks like he might be sent on a loan again by the Blues. Angelo Gabriel is out wide right winger. His style of play is making runs down the wing and providing accurate crosses. Chelsea, right now, have players like Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke to play at right wing. On the left, they have Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk. So it will be tough for the Brazilian to get a chance to play when the season begins.
