Borussia Dortmund eye Chelsea starlet Carney Chukwuemeka as their top signing this window. The club are adamant, this is the deal they want above all others. The German heavyweights see Chukwuemeka as the ideal fit for their tactical blueprint and near-future ambitions, making him their first-choice target for a revamped midfield.
Dortmund Fully Committed to Chukwuemeka
Chukwuemeka has been identified as the perfect midfield addition by Dortmund’s recruitment team under the stewardship of Sebastian Kehl. The 20-year-old flashed promise last season at Chelsea despite injury disruptions, over all logging two Premier League appearances and one goal. His tactical and technical intelligence has generated internal plaudits and the head coach Nuri Sahin is pushing for the signing, confident that Chukwuemeka would be comfortable in his side’s midfield.
The Bundesliga runners-up have already snatched Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland, but interest in others is still high in the midfield department and Chukwuemeka is top of the shortlist. Sources describe the interest as “concrete and serious,” and club officials are now discussing the structure of a potential deal.
Chelsea Open to Negotiations
Chelsea initially set Chukwuemeka’s price at €35 million, but later reconsidered and lowered their valuation. And with UEFA financial restrictions and a log-jam in midfield, the Blues are now ready to consider offers in the region of €25 million.
Dortmund are deciding over whether to sign him permanently, or try to negotiate another loan agreement with a new option to buy. But a number of reports claim the player wants to return to Signal Iduna Park.
RB Leipzig remain interested too but trail behind in the race. With personal terms unlikely to pose an issue and both clubs aligned, Dortmund could accelerate the deal if Chelsea lower their demands further. Dortmund have already begun pre-season preparations and want to wrap up the transfer before mid-August.
Chukwuemeka remains Dortmund’s number one target – and with both clubs willing to open the conversation now that this one rolls towards a conclusion.
