Cole Palmer makes bold move with stunning new trademark

One of the most promising players of Chelsea, Cole Palmer, has done something unique by registering the name of his famous celebration ‘Cold Palmer’ as a trademark thus he has changed his iconic goal celebration into a commercial opportunity.

The 23-year-old England international will be able to make money from commercial products bearing this name, thus adding a new layer to his personal brand.

From Celebration to Commercial Symbol

Palmer’s “cold” gesture — a shivering motion after scoring — was a debut moment in a match against Luton Town in December 2023. Just like his former Manchester City academy teammate Morgan Rogers, Cole drew inspiration and now uses the move to symbolize success, self-assurance, and control even in difficult situations. It gradually became one of the ways Cole Palmer expressed his ice-cold nature on the pitch.

Now that the official trademark has been granted to him, he is free to employ the term “Cold Palmer” on a wide range of goods, including coffee, ice cream, and sports merchandise. The trademark, however, does not cover wine as a result of objection from French producer Chateau Palmer who is against his claim.

A Growing Trend Among Football Stars

With Palmer’s decision one can name only a few football stars: Cristiano Ronaldo whose brand CR7 is famous worldwide, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe who have all converted the use of personal gestures into globally recognized trademarks.

Moreover, his action is a reflection of the commercial and entrepreneurial aspects that exist alongside the sporting one in modern football where the power of a brand is almost equal to the level of one’s skill.

Author’s View

Palmer’s business acumen is as strong as his playing ability and the fact that he was one of the first to own his brand is proof that footballers today are not just entertainers — they are ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌entrepreneurs.
