Enzo Maresca looking forward to working with star Chelsea player

Chelsea

Enzo Maresca has joined Chelsea as their new manager. Although at times the recent Merry-go-round at the club has been hard to keep up with. Enzo Maresca has just helped Leicester City climb up the ladder of promotion to the Premier League and has been a great manager for them.

After Mauricio Pochettino was sacked, many superstar and big names of the managerial world were being tipped to become the next manager of the club. Although he is a great manager, he is a surprise addition to Chelsea’s recent managerial name list.

Maresca will join Chelsea on July 1. Maresca signed a contract for five years with the option of one more year. In a thread on X, journalist Ben Jacobs provided more context for why Maresca was the “unanimous” choice for Chelsea’s board.

“Chelsea confirmed Enzo Maresca as their new head coach. It’s a five-year contract with a club option of a further year. Former Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero joins as Maresca’s assistant. Maresca was the unanimous choice of Chelsea’s leadership,” wrote Jacobs.

“Maresca stood out because of his possession-based style. Experience in English football is seen as key. Chelsea was struck by his ‘champions mentality’. Maresca is also understood to have displayed extensive squad knowledge at the interview and was impressed with the talent and balance at the club.

“Maresca’s thirst for knowledge impressed Chelsea’s hierarchy. He even started watching last season’s games while on holiday in Marbella ahead of getting the job. Maresca has already asked for data access to provide performance analysis on every player, from youth level to the first team, as well as full details of everyone working at Cobham. This meticulous approach was the same at Leicester.”

Enzo Maresca rates Robert Sanchez highly

Maresca is clearly backed by the Chelsea board, as per Ben Jacobs, and will be backed by Todd Boehly.

Robert Sanchez recently joined Chelsea from Brighton. The Spanish International is said to be liked by Enzo Maresca and will be featured in his team. Fabrizio Romano reported that

Chelsea’s new coach, Maresca, told the board that he really likes Robert Sánchez.

Maresca is looking forward to working with the Spanish GK next season, as he believes Robert is ready for the next phase of his career. Chelsea expects Sánchez to stay at the club this summer.

Maresca has seen something in the goalkeeper, who is currently at £60,000 per week at the London club.

Apart from Robert Sanchez, Enzo Maresca is obviously interested in keeping and using Cole Palmer for his team next season. Although Cole Palmer was a sought-after man during his time at Manchester City, he turned his career on its head this season. Cole Pamer has certainly proved his worth, and naturally, Enzo Maresca will make him the focal point of his squad.

Cole Palmer scored 22 goals and bagged 11 assists for Chelsea this season. He even scored a penalty for England this week against Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a result, he will be featured under the new manager regularly.

Additionally, Maresca is expected to have a say in the transfer market because he is a big fan of Lautaro Martinez, the striker for Inter Milan, and his forward line.

However, Enzo is a manager who will stick with the players that actually perform; he will look at Cole Palmer as one of the players who will help his team throughout the season.
