Eze wins over Arsenal fans after Forest game

Arsenal fans couldn’t stop talking about Eberechi Eze after his strong performance against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

A dream start in Gunners colours

Eberechi Eze was always going to be under a scanner after Arsenal signed the player from Crystal Palace for £60m and add-ons. In his first start, his side earned a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.

The player made an assist to Viktor Gyokeres to make a strong impact. He was effective with his created touches, dribbles and gliding past defenders. He was eventually replaced by Leandro Trossard late in the game, but Eze had done plenty by that point.

The North Londoner side didn’t sign him just for flair. They have come close to the title in three straight seasons, and Mikel Arteta wanted proven quality. The Gunners’ fans had long admired him at Palace. Now in red, they were on their feet watching him run the left side with style and confidence.

Arsenal fans see an upgrade in Eze

Numbers from his debut tell their own story. He had 41 touches, three successful dribbles, one assist and an 83% pass completion. More importantly still, he looked like he belonged in a team going for trophies. Fans were quick to suggest on social media that Eze could be an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli.

What this means for Arsenal is exciting. A player who can change games on his own, give defenders nightmares. He brings a spark in matches where little is happening is exactly what this team has been missing. For Arteta, the first outing offered enough proof that his new man will be central to Arsenal’s push for silverware.

Author’s Opinion:

Eze didn’t just meet expectations, he exceeded them. If this is what he can do on his first start, Arsenal may have landed the missing piece in their title chase.
