Fabrizio Romano has just issued a big Manchester United transfer update on Benjamin Sesko.
United take the lead in Sesko race claims Romano
Manchester United appear to be in pole position to land RB Leipzig’s rising star Benjamin Sesko. They will be beating PL rivals Newcastle United to sign the forward.
After both clubs submitted similar bids, the feeling around Old Trafford is that the player only wants to join them. Man United’s reported offer is around £73.8m.
In addition, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Utd’s belief has hit the roof this week. Apparently, Sesko is said to be leaning heavily toward Ruben Amorim’s project. The striker has been given a contract, and transfer talks with Leipzig are also in works.
Last season United struggled to score goals, Sesko could really inject some much-needed life up front. His combination of speed, power and finishing puts him heads above his peers in Europe. He has already scored 26 league goals in only two campaigns in Germany.
Newcastle’s window goes from bad to worse
While Red Devils’ fans are buzzing, it’s been a tough few weeks for Newcastle. They have already missed out on several attacking targets. Those include Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, and Joao Pedro. That said, losing Sesko to a direct rival would be another big blow to the Magpies.
Even Bryan Mbeumo, was once on their shortlist. But, he also ended up in red instead of black and white. Meanwhile. their star man Alexander Isak is reportedly considering his options. So, Eddie Howe finds himself under pressure to fix his frontline quickly.
Sesko was seen as a perfect fit, but now it looks like the Magpies may come up short again. If United close this deal, Amorim will have a serious trio on his hands next season. Sesko will possibly lining up alongside Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha in a front line full of firepower. For Newcastle, it’s back to the drawing board. For United, good things are taking shape.
