Fulham are in negotiations to sign Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as they weigh up loan and permanent deals. Fulham haven’t made a formal offer yet, but talks have intensified over the past few days. If things come together, expect a solid approach from Chelsea imminently.
Fulham eye midfield upgrade with Dewsbury-Hall
After finishing 13th last season, Fulham want to stiffen their midfield with a player capable of dictating play, controlling tempo, and providing forward thrust. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall fits that profile perfectly.
Chelsea signed the 26-year-old from Leicester last summer in a £30million deal, but he started just two Premier League games under Enzo Maresca. He has made 36 combined appearances, but Conor Gallagher and returning Andrey Santos have overtaken him in Maresca’s pecking order.
Midfield is high on Marco Silva’s list this window, particularly with Tom Cairney leaving and João Palhinha’s future still up in the air. Fulham have faith in Dewsbury-Hall’s ability to be a box-to-box presence with vision and stamina to be successful in their system.
Chelsea open to sale, Fulham weigh structure
Chelsea are willing to part with Dewsbury-Hall this summer providing they receive back majority of the original amount spend on acquiring his services. And though a loan is an option, the Blues are after a full sale or a loan with an option to buy — to keep the books balanced in the face of ongoing FFP pressure.
Fulham are thinking things through very carefully. They have scouted the player heavily and already have made preliminary financial projections on the player. If Chelsea drop their valuation, or change how the deal is structured, then Fulham are expected to make a bid before the close of the month.
Meanwhile, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall wants the move — hungry for game time and determined to revive his Premier League career.
