Mikel Arteta will get sacked if Arsenal don’t win the league this time.
Will Mikel Arteta finally end the trophy drought ?
Mikel Arteta shared before the season that his team faced a harder challenge than before. Yet, his claim that nine clubs could fight for the PL crown sounded more like damage control than truth. After finishing runner-up three times, Arsenal now sit as the only side with everything aligned in consistency, squad depth, and belief.
Their rivals have stumbled, some in spectacular fashion, leaving the path wide open. Even Liverpool’s four straight defeats have removed one major obstacle. It is presently perceived that the Gunners have the highest chances of winning the title.
Arteta realizes that the balance between hope and pressure is a very sensitive one. The narrative he built around shared competition no longer convinces anyone. Arsenal supporters no longer accept near-misses or ‘progress.’ They crave results, and this season offers their best window yet.
Failure no longer an option
No excuses are left considering Arsenal’s actual condition. The top members of the club has put up a lot of money providing Arteta with this squad. This group of stars is the most complete team since the time of Arsene Wenger’s prime. The control in defense, the quality in the midfield and the consistency in getting points are all leading to title aspirations for them. If that dream collapses again, it will not be for lack of talent or resources.
Man City’s dip has made this season Arsenal’s clearest chance to end a long wait for league title. Should Arteta fall short again, the disappointment may turn into decisive action. Success is now the only measure of his leadership. The patience is wearing thin among club and fans alike.
Author’s Opinion:
Arteta has changed Arsenal into a stunning team, but it’s no more the time for learning curves. Anything less than the PL title could mean a sudden end to his reign if he does not deliver.
