Arsenal fans are losing patience with Kai Havertz after another lifeless showing. This time as the Gunners lost 1-0 to Tottenham in a friendly.
It was a preseason game but it was always going to be a fiery affair. Spurs were somehow able to pull off a win thanks to Pape Matar Sarr’s shot from the halfway line. It was a painful moment for the Arsenal defenders.
It was not the only lifeless moment for Havertz who played as the Gunners No 9. In the two halves of play, he hardly made an impact. As has come up multiple times, the striker looks like a man without a clue.
As they always do, many fans took to social media to express their disgust. They are asking why Mikel Arteta would keep faith in using Havertz in such a vital role. The German was replaced by Viktor Gyokeres in the second half.
Gunners Question His Role in the Squad
Since his well documented transfer from Chelsea last summer, Havertz’s status within the club has been repeatedly under the doubts. He has scored 29 goals and provided 13 assists in 87 games. But, the fans have been disappointed saying that his performances have not matched his price tag.
Thursday’s performance revived criticism for the forward. The North London side’s continued search for a reliable striker has been brought up a lot. That said, Havertz’s form has only added to that. Pre-season is generally accepted to be a time for players to warm up. But, for a large number of supporters, yet again pre-season did not bring positives.
Now, Gyokeres is also in the mix. So, the pressure will only increase on Havertz to turn it around both individually and also help the club.
