Jude Bellingham praises Arsenal star for the “sacrifice”

Bukayo Saka - Arsenal

England completed a late comeback to move on in the 2024 Euro Cup with Jude Bellingham praising the team and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka for his sacrifice.

The 2024 Euro Cup Round of 16 match between England and Slovakia has been going anywhere but in favor of England. The English side seemed to struggle throughout the match. The Slovakia side led the game for most of the match with 1-0. The underperforming English side seemed to be struggling a lot before Jude Bellingham came to the rescue.

A late equaliser that too in the additional stoppage time staged a perfect comeback for England.

An early goal in the 25th minute saw Slovakia taking the lead and holding on to it for the rest of the game. The English side seemed to be lacking defense and coordination as they were anywhere but at their best.

However, going into the additional stoppage time, Jude Bellingham gave the perfect equalizer to the Southgate side. Bellingham with his perfect overhead kick at 90+5′ managed to make the match leveled once again forcing it to the extra time. Then Harry Kane finished off the task scoring an early goal in the extra time (91′).

Bellingham praises his teammates

As expected, Jude Bellingham was the center of the talk and received all sorts of praise for the sensational goal at such a stage of the match. However, the Real Madrid star was quick to give all the credit to his teammates for the incredible win and performance of the English side.

Praising everyone as a whole Bellingham said in a post-match interview how everyone contributed together as a team. He also highlighted Bukayo Saka who sacrificed his position to handle left back managing the defensive line of the English side. The defense seemed quite a problem in the match and the Arsenal star moved to take the responsibility gaining praise and respect from Jude Bellingham.

Bellingham also mentioned substitutes with the likes of Ivan and Toney as they helped turn the tide of the game. But still moving Saka to the left back position was the highlight.

The English side eyes improvement

However, the win might seem but the lack of performance at such a stage is something the English side needs to tend to. Overall performance as a team was underwhelming and fans would be hoping this match to be a wake-up call for the side to get back on their feet.

With such a performance, the side won’t be able to stand a chance against the likes of France, Germany, and Spain. The side will look to make a statement in the next game with Switzerland.
