Julen Lopetegui looks to bring former star to West Ham

West Ham

Youssef En-Nesyri, who is one of the best players in the Sevilla lineup, could be heading to London. Recently, the Spanish club has been facing a lot of financial issues, and selling players may seem to be a solution. The Moroccan striker played his last game at the Ramón Sanchez-Pizjuán and is now a target for multiple clubs to sign. He contributed heavily to Sevilla during his time there. He has scored more than 40 goals for the club and tasted European gold with them back in 2020. West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui seems keen on getting his signature. He has been looking to bolster his frontline, and this might be his perfect addition.

The Spanish manager led Sevilla to Europa League glory in 2020. Lopetegui has coached Youssef earlier as well. Under him, the Moroccan became the highest-scoring player. He even won the Europa League under him, making him one of the best in Europe. There have been many rumours regarding this transfer, and it seems the club is also keen on making it happen. Having a player who is familiar to the manager will definitely play a key factor in gaining more success going forward.

West Ham, who finished 9th in the Premier League, will improve with his addition. Players like Jarrod Bowen and Mohammad Kudus have already helped West Ham score many goals in the 2023–24 campaign. This addition to the team will only make their attack much stronger. The Moroccan’s introduction to the team will allow James Ward-Prowse to open up his game as well and play more freely. The addition of the striker will allow the wingers and midfielders to open up freely as well.

Can West Ham regain European football?

West Ham won the Europa Conference League in 2023 and collected their first European trophy. It seemed like they had a good amount of momentum on their side. They even seemed very likely to go back-to-back by winning the Europa League. However, they lost to Xabi Alonso’s Bayern Leverkusen, who were invincible at the time. Alonso’s side lost in the final of the tournament against Atlanta who ended their unbeaten run.

After losing in the quarterfinals of the Europa League, they finished 9th in England, missing out on European football by two spots. These events have surely blown the West Ham supporters away, considering their success in recent times. They also lost their leader, Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal last season. Rice even received a negative reception when he turned up in red during Arsenal’s game against West Ha, It will be very interesting to see how such events will impact the club. The new additions will play a key role in helping the club grow and perform better.

The Hammers are also looking to sign British midfielder Jordan James from Birmingham City. They are constantly knocking on doors at the transfer market, and it will be interesting to see how it goes. Clubs like Manchester United have also shown interest in Youssef En-Nesyri, so West Ham will have to place the correct bid. They are competing with big clubs for players, and convincing them to join them will be an uphill task. Having just won the FA Cup, Manchester United recently announced that Erik Ten Hag will be staying. This might influence the players to join them because of their recent success and every player’s hunger for championship medals.

West Ham will have to move quickly in the transfer market. Clubs have been splashing cash on their targets and they will have to be prepared to do the same. The hammers will be focused on the next season majorly.
