Arsenal defender Lewis Brown is set to leave the Gunners to join West Ham. He was dubbed as the future captain of Arsenal.
Why West Ham want Lewis Brown?
The Hammers have recently appointed Julen Loptegui as their new manager. He is building a new project at West Ham. According to Hammers News the Spaniard want reinforcements at two major positions. One is at the centre back position and another one is at the left back position. So, West Ham are desperate to sign the young Arsenal academy product to reinforce their backline. On top of that the Hammers need a backup for Emerson Palmieri at the Left back position.

Lewis Brown has raised through the ranks of Arsenal academy and has become a leader for their under 19 team.
West Ham’s new defender
According to multiple sources it is being said that the 18 year old will sign a new deal on Monday. He is the grandson of the a West Ham legend Ken Brown who made 474 appearances. His entire family supports West Ham. So, it was a easy decision for the young defender.
West Ham official page tweeted, ‘Arsenal Defender Luis Brown has confirmed that he will be leaving Arsenal when his scholarship contract expires at the end of June. The 18-year-old son of West Ham Academy Manager Kenny Brown progressed all the way through the ranks at the club’s Hale End Arsenal academy, wasn’t offered a professional contract by Arsenal. Brown has been training with West Ham and is now expected to sign for the Hammers on 1 July. During his time at Arsenal Brown, who can play at left-back or centre-back, made 31 appearances for the U18s, scoring three goals. He often captained the team last season. Brown also made his Premier League 2 debut as a substitute against Southampton and was named on the bench in the UEFA Youth League.’
West Ham’s transfer activity so far
Last season the Hammers snatched away Ghana international Mohammed Kudus from Arsenal. Later he became one of the best signings of the season. After joining the Hammers he gave one after another masterclass performances and kept the ground running. In this transfer window they have signed ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez for £72.5m. The gunners were also interested in the midfielder. Now they are taking away a homegrown talent from Arsenal. If Julen Loptegui can utilize these new signings arount Mohammed Kudus, West Ham can secure top 4 finish in the upcoming season.
