It is being reported that Liverpool are preparing to sign Atalanta’s Brazilian central midfielder, Ederson.
After joining the Italian side in 2022, the Brazilian showcased his talent and prowess and gained attention from numerous clubs. He impressed every Atalanta player and fan with his confidence over the ball.
Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini said that he would like the keep the 24-year-old at the club. But it would be difficult as Ederson has already attracted many clubs. The decision of staying or leaving the club rests on the shoulders of Ederson.
Why Liverpool want Ederson?
Arne Slot has been recently appointed as the new Liverpool manager. The board of Liverpool will support Slot in this summer transfer window as he has immense pressure on him of starting the post-Klopp era at Liverpool. He is looking for the right players for his team at every position. One of the positions is the Central Defensive Midfielder. The position has been weak last season due to which the Reds conceded many unnecessary goals. The manager has clearly noticed the absence of Fabinho. Slot believes that Ederson could close the gap between the midfield and defense and also act as an orchestrator in the midfield.
According to the Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Liverpool have made an offer of €45 million. The 24 years old recently won the UEFA Europa League with Atalanta by defeating the most in-form team last season Bayer Leverkusen 3-0. This raised the market price of Ederson which can make Liverpool’s business with the Italian side a bit difficult.

He has kept all possibilities open for him to play. The 24 years old has the potential to replace Fabinho in the Liverpool squad. He could add more depth to the midfield and could act as an extra man in defense. As a CDM, he scored 7 goals and an assist in 53 games. With a successful tackle rate of 2.2 per game, he could be an incredible signing. He is very good on the ball and exceptional in tackles and aerial duels. A complete solid central defensive player who could compete with the likes of Declan Rice, Rodri, Bruno Guimares in the Premier League.
Ederson on his transfer situation
At the moment the Brazilian is focused on his national duties. He is now with the national team for the Copa America. Still, he did speak about the situation in a recent interview.
“I like Italy but I’m also curious about the Premier League. The only possibility to leave is if Atalanta receive a proposal and then they decide. It’s up to Atalanta.”
