Madrid quietly plan bold move for Haaland

Real Madrid have initiated contact with Erling Haaland and his camp. They explore what could be one of football’s biggest transfer sagas in the coming years.

Madrid test the waters for Haaland

Real Madrid has not hidden their desire for Erling Haaland and the latest news suggests that they have made a direct step towards making such a dream come true. According to various reports, the team has contacted the player’s agents to find out if a transfer to Man City would be feasible. It is still too soon to tell, but the Madrid side can surely be doing their homework.

Man City, on their side, have ruled out any talk of selling Haaland. The forward’s contract will run out in the middle of the next decade but he is still a very important player in Pep Guardiola’s plans. However, the Spanish side is keeping a close eye on the case. The current La Liga champions, who are aware of the inner workings, have come to the conclusion that the star might eventually become the most important asset in their transition after Benzema; a scorer who not only ensures but also instills fear in the back lines.

The buzz going around is that Madrid are preparing for a big summer in the not-so-far future, and Haaland is by all means the most wanted player for them.

Vinicius situation adds to transfer interest

Now here’s where things get interesting. Madrid’s pursuit of Haaland seems directly tied to the uncertainty surrounding Vinicius Jr. Contract talks with the Brazilian have stalled, and what once looked like a straightforward renewal has turned complicated. Insiders have disclosed that Vinicius’ camp demands a net salary of €25m per season. That is an amount which Real Madrid are not willing to equal.

Vinicius’ worth is recognized by the club, however, his performance has put off the management. He remains a player who is has the love of fans. His performances, however, have been disappointing that the matter has been talked about at the club. Just a couple of weeks back, the player was key in the victory against Levante by both scoring and providing an assist during the same match, yet such games have become rare. The club is known for being merciless with their big calls. They are not completely discarding the option of selling the player as long as his market value is still high.

Haaland could shape Madrid in the coming years

In case the negotiations regarding the renewal of the contract take longer than anticipated, the year 2026 will be the pivotal point. If by then there is still no agreement, Madrid might place Vinicius on the list of transferred players in order not to lose him later without getting any payment. That potential sale could open the door for Haaland’s arrival. The club’s internal projections show that offloading Vinicius for a record fee could generate the funds needed to chase the €180m-rated striker.

Of course, signing Haaland won’t be easy. His deal with City reportedly runs until 2034, and his release clause, if triggered, would shatter previous transfer records. But Madrid have done it before. They waited for Cristiano Ronaldo, they planned years for Kylian Mbappe, and now, Haaland looks like the next ‘Galactico’ target. The strategy is clear, line up the finances, make the sporting case, and be ready when the opportunity arises.

Author’s Opinion:

Real Madrid’s interest in Haaland feels inevitable. Ambition is their driving force, and Haaland’s character is just right for the club. However, the transfer of Vinicius to pay for that deal would be a risky operation, one that might alter the destiny of the team or cause them to suffer from regret for a long time.
