Chelsea keeps producing the goods

Chelsea’s youth academy has always been a place for elite talent. From Mason Mount to Tammy Abraham and captain Reece James, Cobham continues to produce players capable of performing at the top level.

Now, another star player is in the making. In Chelsea’s UEFA Youth League game with Benfica’s U-19s, 15-year-old Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli scored a hat-trick in the Blues’ 5-2 victory. The hat-trick was even more exceptional due to the fact that Nicoll-Jazuli is two age groups above his playing age. From his movement, finishing, and attitude, everyone was impressed. It proves that the Blues’ next generation of players is completely locked and loaded.

Palmer impressed by Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli

First-team star Cole Palmer, sidelined with a groin issue, was in the stands to watch the youngsters in action. He was impressed by Nicoll-Jazuli’s performance. That speaks volumes, given Palmer himself is seen as one of the PL’s best attacking midfielders at the moment.

For the young player, these words from big stars are another big step in his rapid rise and growth. He has also part of England’s U-17s as well. Once again, he was playing up an age group but looking calm and confident.

Chelsea fans are starting to compare him with some of past academy players. Although, it’s too early to say what his potential will be. But, he is developing in the right direction.

Meanwhile, head coach Enzo Maresca is already giving chances to young and bright players. So, it may not be long before Nicoll-Jazuli is on the boss’ radar and makes his senior debut soon.

Author’s Opinion:

Nicoll-Jazuli’s hat-trick wasn’t just a good day out, it was a statement from the player. If this continues, Chelsea could have another hero on its hands.
