Manchester United planning an ambitious transfer pursuit for key PSG midfielder.
PSG Star Fabian Ruiz Emerges as Top Target for United
Manchester Utd are closely monitoring Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz ahead of a potential £34m summer move.
Christian Eriksen is set to leave this term. The form of Casemiro and Ugarte has been underwhelming this season. So, Ruben Amorim wants to bring in fresh energy and creativity to the heart of the pitch. Ruiz fits the system. He is seen as the ideal fit for Amorim’s two-man midfield setup.
He covers the pitch, dictates the game and adds value in attack. Recently, he demonstrated his value, being an key part in PSG winning the Champions League for the first time. He impressed most against Arsenal and scored against them in the important second leg as well.
The playmaker is currently contracted to PSG until 2027. However, with interest in England now increasing, the French side may have to reconsider their plans.
United are facing competition from their Premier League rivals as well as Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr. The Saudi side looks to sign a deep lying playmaker. But, Amorim’s tactical system and Premier League football may just swing in Utd’s favour.
Paris Reluctant to Sell Star Midfielder
That being said, PSG are in no hurry to sell. Ruiz is part of a dominant midfield trio, with Vitinha and Joao Neves. They are powering the team to a stunning heights in the 2024/25 season with wins in Ligue 1, the French Cup, Super Cup and UCL. The Club World Cup is still ongoing, with Ruiz being a central part of it. Given that, PSG will not entertain any offers until after the final on July 13.
United may have to wait, but if they manage to seal the deal, Ruiz could slot right in behind Bruno Fernandes. It will give the Red Devils a solid midfield spine.
