Man Utd, Aston Villa Tracking Calvert-Lewin

Aston Villa join Man Utd in transfer chase for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The striker is attracting interest after parting ways with Everton.

United, Villa Keen on Calvert-Lewin to Boost Attack

Aston Villa have stepped into the mix for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He is now a free agent after ending a long spell with Everton.

Head coach Unai Emery is eager to bring in more options up front. That is especially with loanees Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio no longer in the squad. The club are checking out the wage expectations of Calvert-Lewin. This indicates the club has a genuine interest in taking the forward to Villa Park.

Also, AC Milan and Newcastle are monitoring Calvert-Lewin. The fact that the player has experience and he is available, makes him a good attacking option.

Calvert-Lewin scored just three in 26 last season as he missed quite a while from injury. His last league start was back in January against Tottenham. Still, Emery sees value in a striker with EPL know-how, especially at no transfer cost.

The Midlands club‘s only moves so far have been the signing of keeper Marco Bizot and defender Yasin Ozcan. So, the ex-Toffee’s striker could be the spark needed to kick-start their window.

Watkins Future is in the Air

Ollie Watkins remains central to Villa’s plans. However, interest from Manchester United and Newcastle has left the door open for possible changes up front. Calvert-Lewin could provide essential cover if a big offer come in for Watkins late in the window.

Villa’s moves so far shows that they are trying to stick to their spending limits. That’s why Calvert-Lewin, as a free agent, will be a good move. He has not been in great form recently. Although, with the fresh start of a new season under Emery, he could regain his form.

It remains to be seen if either of Aston Villa or Man United will make the move for the striker.
