Manchester City Could Sign A New Winger In The Summer

Phil Foden - Manchester City

Manchester City is looking for a new winger in the summer transfer window. Last season the citizens brought young winger Jeremy Doku from French club Rennes to improve their attack. Now, the city is eager to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo to add more attacking threat.

Over the past two years, City signed some of the best talents around the world for the winger position after the departure of two best wingers in City’s Squad- Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez. Since then Manchester City signed two wingers- Jack Grealish from Aston Villa and Jeremy Doku from Rennes.

City have some of the best players in the squad right now. This season Manchester City won the Premier League title for four times in a row, the first time in Premier League history. This shows that the team has some of the best players in the world of football. However, there is no speedy player available in City’s squad right now, except Jeremy Doku. So, the citizens are looking for a player who could add some space to the squad.

Will Rodrygo Join Manchester City?

Manchester City are keen to sign the Brazilian. However, there is no official deal was made by any parties yet. But city boss Pep Guardiola believes that the Brazilian would be an ideal addition to his team and could add more threat in the attacking option.

TEAMtalk added that the Spanish giant Real Madrid would demand a transfer value of more than 100M for the 23-year-old. Arsenal are also interested in signing Rodrygo in the summer. The sheer amount of money is a concern for the Gunners.

Rodygo’s performance for Madrid

The 23-year-old is one of the key players in the Madrid Squad. Since his joining in July 2019, the Brazilian made 216 appearances for Real Madrid and scored 54 goals. Rodrygo contributed significantly last season and helped Real Madrid win their 15th Champions League title. Last season Rodrygo made 51 appearances for Madrid across all competitions and bagged 17 goals.

Rodrygo on his own scored 10 goals in the LaLiga last season, while the three Manchester City Winger Bernardo Silva, Jeremy Doku, and Jack Grealish combined scored only 12 goals in the premier league. So, there is no doubt that City is determined to improve their attack before the start of the new season.

But Real Madrid is reluctant to sell the Brazilian international right now. Recently the Champions League winner rejected a 120M transfer fee for the Brazilian from Liverpool. So, it is questionable whether the city managed to get Rodrygo in the summer transfer window.
