Manchester United

Manchester United are in talks with Everton for 21-year-old defender Jarrad Braithwaite. The Red Devils previously made an offer of around 43M including achievable add-ons. united was confident that they could wrap up a deal quickly for Jrrad Branthwaite. But Everton rejected the offer and demanded a transfer fee of 70M for defender Jerrad Branthwaite.

Man Utd are ready to make some signs for squad reinforcements. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is one of the major targets of the Red Devils. The 21-year-old had a great last season with the toffees, made 41 appearances, and scored 3 goals in all competitions. Despite Everton’s difficult season in the last Premier League campaign, the English defender has an impressive season. As Raphael Varane will leave the club in the summer, United is looking for new faces in the backline.

Manchester United already made a bid worth 43M for Jarrad Branthwaite. However, the toffees rejected the bid and demanded a transfer fee between 70M and 80M. Everton might take lessons from United’s previous transfer business including Rasmus Hojlund’s deal with Atalanta for 76M, and Antony’s deal with Ajax with a transfer fee of 86M. So, the toffees considered that they demand more for Jarrad Branthwaite. Everton are aware of the need to work within the premier league’s Profit and sustainability(PSR) rules. So, the toffees want to sell Branthwaite for a high transfer fee to raise funds.

But Manchester United are reluctant to pay that much amount for the 21-year-old. United are set to sell Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho in the summer to raise their fund for the transfer window. However, at the same time, they are not willing to pay this much amount to one player. Last season United only scored 57 goals in the Premier League, becoming the joint-lowest goal-scoring side in the top half of the League with Crystal Palace. So, they want to sign a new striker in the summer to replace Anthony Martial, who will leave United after nine seasons with the Red Devils. So, United are not willing to pay that much amount to a single player.

Manchester United already warned Everton that if they do not reduce the transfer fee for Jarrad Braithwaite, the Red Devils will consider other targets. The British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe made clear that they will use the transfer windows more preciously. The United Board is ready to solve all the problems at Old Trafford. He said in an interview with Bloomberg,

” I’m not confident that we’ll solve all the problems in the first transfer window. It will take two or three summer windows to get to a better place.”

Everton needs to negotiate well with United for the 21-year-old. Otherwise, they will miss the chance to sell Branthwaite for a good price.
