Reports suggest Enzo Maresca could soon drop winger from Chelsea’s starting lineup.
Maresca to make a key call on winger
Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea came as no surprise for fans. Besides, his is a very valuable talent. But, his attitude and lack of consistency are growing doubts him.
It was expected that the winger would set the field on fire. However, his displays in blue have been a letdown. They have revealed just bits and pieces of his true potential at his new club. He has not yet struck a chord with the staff or the players.
It is indeed tricky situation. The head coach Enzo Maresca cannot afford to overlook when the club is battling for points in a tough schedule.
Competition heating up on the flanks
With Ajax up next, the talk around Cobham is who might step in if Garnacho is benched. Jamie Gittens and Estevao are both in contention, though neither is a perfect fit. Gittens has struggled to impress, while Estevao, more natural on the right, deserves to stay where he’s most effective.
That leaves Tyrique George, the promising youngster who caught Maresca’s eye against Benfica. By moving him to the left, Chelsea could potentially gain new energy and width. That has been the main drawback in their attack in the last matches.
For Garnacho ,this could be the turning point of his career at the West London side. Either he improves or he continues being a spectator from the bench.
Author’s Opinion:
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s patience looks thin, and it makes sense. Without a doubt, Alejandro Garnacho is a gifted player, but then again the Blues cannot take any risks with their squad. If he wishes to be part of the main game, he has to pretty soon change those flashes into decisive moments.
