Man Utd no.1 Andre Onana is being tracked by Monaco. New manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly approved the sale of their keeper.
Keeper’s exit should be priority
Manchester United are under pressure to balance the books and reshape the squad. The club is planning to sell few stars during this window including Alejandro Garnacho.
But, fans think letting go of the winger shouldn’t be their first move. Instead, the club must focus on selling Andre Onana, who takes home a hefty £200k-per-week including bonuses.
The keeper joined from Inter Milan for around £47m just last summer. However, his performances have not lived up to expectations. Costly errors in goal played a part in Man Utd missing out on European football and silverware last season.
While Garnacho would bring in pure profit due to his academy status. So, fans think selling him over is a poor call. As per TBR Football, Amorim has given his nod to part ways with their first-choice keeper.
Monaco keeping Onana under watch
Monaco is sniffing around and keeping an eye on Onana’s situation. Man Utd should push to seal a deal before the transfer window closes. Reports suggest they’re willing to settle for £30m. That is a big drop from the original fee, but one that reflects his dip in form.
Amorim is eyeing a new shot-stopper for the coming season. Names like Newcastle‘s Nick Pope are now on the radar. Pope possesses ample of PL experience.
The Red Devils must want to provide their new boss with a great opportunity for success. So, the best way to do this is to replace Onana with a proven alternative.
Meanwhile, Garnacho is still young, and he clearly has potential, and surely deserves more time at Old Trafford. The smart play here is to sell wisely, not just for quick money, but for building a better-balanced team.
