Odegaard sparks fresh injury scare

Arsenal’s skipper Martin Odegaard was forced off early due to injury against Nottingham Forest.

Odegaard injury adds to another setback for Arsenal

Arsenal‘s injury issues are piling back up again. Now, the Gunners skipper Martin Odegaard is the new player on the list. He went down after a hard challenge in the first half against Forest. That blow may have worried fans over his fitness.

It occurred in a random scramble after a Noni Madueke corner, when Jurrien Timber and Morgan Gibbs-White collided into Odegaard and he went down heavily. The captain had only just returned from a minor issue. He couldn’t continue and was replaced by teenager Ethan Nwaneri.

Expert raises alarm over possible recurrence

As per Physio Scout, Odegaard may have suffered a repeat of the shoulder problem that troubled him not long ago. Although, the earlier injury left him sidelined for only a short period. But, if the injury reoccurs. he could be out for a longer time. That is something that would be harsh for Arsenal given how important he is in midfield.

Losing their captain at this stage of the season would test the North London side’s depth in the squad. The fear is that another lengthy absence could throw their rhythm in must-win games where it counts.

For now, Arsenal fans will hope that the issue proves to be cautious rather than conclusive. Odegaard’s presence is irreplaceable in Mikel Arteta’s team. The North London club know they need him fit if they’re to mount a serious push this season.

Author’s Opinion:

Arsenal’s captain is too central and key to their system to be absent for long. If this injury turns out to be a serious one, the Gunners’ head coach Arteta may have to shuffle the pack yet again. Should that happen, that could derail early momentum.
