Oscar, the former Brazil and Chelsea midfielder aged 34, went to a hospital in his homeland after he suffered a heart-related incident during a training session. The terrifying incident occurred at Sao Paulo’s training centre as the player underwent a medical check to assess his physical condition for the upcoming season. The club said the player is in good shape and doctors are researching medically to determine what caused the problem.
Sudden Collapse During Training
While Oscar was on a stationary bike and pedalling, he somehow fell off the bike and lost consciousness, according to the information reported by the Brazilian news outlet Globo. The medical team at the training centre who attended to the player at the moment and doctors from Einstein Hospital Israelita helped the player immediately.
Fast action preserved Oscar’s life and he was rushed to hospital for checks. Sao Paulo officials said the player remains in intensive care as doctors carry out tests to find out why he collapsed.
Career in Doubt After Health Scare
The player, who dictates the game’s flow from midfield, holds a contract with the club that runs until 2027, but reports suggest he now plans to hang up his boots after the unfortunate incident.
The team, whose head coach is former Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo, made public a statement appealing for the player’s and his family’s privacy. In December 2024, Oscar made a comeback at Sao Paulo after spending 8 years in China and left his boyhood club.
Author’s Opinion
One of the most frightening things about health problems is that you can’t anticipate them; this is what happened to Oscar who suddenly faced a heart health scare. He should be thinking about getting well first, not about continuing the career.
Hopefully the midfielder pulls through fully and keep inspiring people of his determination to fight once again.
