Top-5 players set to leave Bundesliga this summer

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

The Bundesliga season is the only one across Europe that has been interesting from the beginning and will prove to be a close encounter for the league title. Many young and talented players have made their presence felt with their great performances.

Bayern Munich still remains on top of the Bundesliga table. They are tailgated by RB Leipzig who are not far behind. Last year Champions League semi-finalists are giving a tough competition and are only 4 points behind the leaders.

With these two teams looking set with their Champions League spot, there can be a minor competition for the remaining 2 spots. Vfl Wolfsburg and Eintracht Fankfurt are 3rd and 4th in the table respectively.

Borussia Dortmund has had a disappointing season and will probably miss out on the top 4 spots. Although there is still a lot to play for, a 4 point gap along with an awful set of displays can prove costly.

The Bundesliga goals and assists chart are both led by Bayern Munich players. Robert Lewandowski is having a record-breaking season with a mammoth 35 goals to his name so far. His counterpart Thomas Muller leads the assists chart with 14.

5 Bundesliga players set to leave before next season

JULIAN BRANDT

He was dubbed as the next Mesut Ozil because of his creativity and agility. But all has not been good for him at Dortmund.

Although he has featured in the majority of the matches, he has not been able to convince the board for a further stay. He has scored 10 goals in 2 seasons combined, but there has been a downfall this season. Because of which Dortmund are willing to let go of their player.

Reports suggested that the club has reduced his asking price to as low as £30 million. Premier League side Arsenal interested in signing Brandt. They have strengthened their midfield with the addition of Thomas Partey and a loan deal of Martin Odegaard.

LEON BAILEY

The Jamaican international joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 and has been their main striker. He has scored 38 goals in almost 150 appearances. At just 23-years of age, he still has a lot to improve but he has already impressed a couple of English clubs.

Arsenal and Manchester United are the clubs said to be interested in the forward. United were linked with Bailey way back in 2017 when he moved from Genk to Bayer.

This January they had reignited their interest as they had held talks with his representatives. But it failed yet again. They will be trying again as the current strikers are failing to make an impact. Arsenal are also interested in him. They have not made any contact but are keeping tabs on him.

JADON SANCHO

The Englishman was on a whole different level scoring 19 goals and assisting 18 the Bundesliga season. He had made a move to Dortmund after failing to get his playtime at Manchester City. He was sold for just £8 million.

Sancho almost joined Manchester United in what was also going to be the highest Premier League deal. Initially, the Red Devils made a bid nowhere close to their expected one, but later improved it and were ready to spend £100 million. However, Borussia Dortmund were expecting even more and eventually it fell through.

They have already reduced his rate but if Dortmund fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, there will be a huge dip in his value. United as always have doors open for his arrival. However, now Liverpool have also entered the race.

DAVID ALABA

The Austrian veteran had reported earlier this year that he will be leaving Bayern Munich after his contract runs out at the end of the season. Becoming a free agent, a lot of clubs have inspected him for a possible move as his experience can prove to be invaluable.

The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, and PSG had shown interest in signing the 28-year-old player. While he is yet to decide on his next place, reports suggest that he has turned down many clubs.

He denied a lucrative offer from PSG and has shut down a move to Premier League as he prefers to play in Spain. Both the Spanish clubs are head to head in this battle.

There were rumors saying that the player had signed a pre-contract with Madrid, which was immediately shut down by his agent. Also, the newly elected Barcelona president is a close friend of the player’s agent making this transfer one to watch out for.

ERLING HAALAND

Finally! the colossal one. This particular transfer has put everyone in a state of turmoil. Erling Haaland has taken the world by storm in just 3 years. There is nothing surprising when every European clubs are interested in signing him.

Haaland leaving Dortmund is all but set. Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Manchester City are already in the race and there is no clear leader in the race yet. The Norwegian recently revealed in a recent interview that for him to consider a move, a club must really ‘want’ him.

He has a release clause of €75 million that will only be activated in 2022 which is completely worthless. None of the above clubs are willing to wait another year to score a prolific striker. So Borussia Dortmund has put an asking price of €100 million above which any deal will be negotiable.
