Arsenal defender will be returning to his club from injury, but the question remains about whether he will get to start.
Defender set for Arsenal return
Arsenal have been given a great news in the light of an upcoming busy schedule. Mikel Arteta has now another option in defense as Piero Hincapie has rejoined full training after being out of action for weeks. The way things have worked out, Hincapie’s return looks perfect on paper.
The PL has not yet seen the defender, who got injured in a UCL game. He is nearing to full fitness but still not a guarantee that he will get to play. Arteta has a tough call to make when it comes to making such a change in the defense. That is especially with the busy schedule ahead of him.
Competition Is fierce at the back
Hincapie is indeed facing a real challenge even with his busy schedule. He has missed games and Cristhian Mosquera has securely taken his place, not only with the fans but also with coaches who are now admiring him. That tightens the pecking order even more. Arteta will have to change his squad quite often to prevent fatigue, but the dropping of a defender who is in-form just for the sake of a player returning might disturb the whole thing going on.
Arsenal invested heavily over the summer to strengthen depth, and this is exactly where it’s being tested. Hincapie is probably best advised to bide his time, stay fit through training, and grab the opportunity provided by cup matches to showcase his readiness for regular playing time once more.
Author’s Opinion:
Hincapie’s return is a great news to Arsenal’s squad. But, he has to earn his place back. For him, patience and hard work will be his best of friends.
