Leandro Trossard is weighing his future as chances of a new deal with Arsenal continues to fade.
Talks on hold as Trossard drops down the order at Arsenal
Leandro Trossard is seriously thinking about moving away from Arsenal this summer as his place in the squad grows uncertain.
With just one year left on his current contract, the Belgian is aware that the club is open to letting him go. The Gunners recently strengthened their wide options, adding Noni Madueke to the squad for a reported £52m. Head coach Mikel Arteta is planning for even more changes. So, Trossard has sensed that he could slip even lower down the pecking order.
Talks over a new deal have gone quiet. The club appears more interested in bringing in other players than in retaining the 30-year old. Although, he is not completely frozen out. But, he knows this could be Arsenal’s last opportunity to get a return on him. He has plenty of suitors in Europe as well.
Gunners considering options
In January 2023, Trossard signed a £27m, deal from Brighton to Arsenal and it has been a challenge to get regular starts. But, he has been regularly rotated with Gabriel Martinelli on the left wing. Despite praise from legends like Ian Wright, the Belgian winger’s role has remained unclear.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, clubs from Italy and Germany are circling. Napoli and Atalanta have expressed serious interest. Borussia Dortmund view the attacker as a realistic target compared to other pricey names.
Although, Arsenal would be happy to keep him. But, they’re not against selling if a good offer lands before the transfer window closes.
Trossard, who still has quality and experience at the top level, is now taking a hard look at his options. A fresh start abroad could be on the cards if things don’t shift soon at the Emirates.
