United cool off Jackson chase

Man United have pulled the plug on one of their key striker targets Nicolas Jackson for the summer window.

Jackson no longer a United Target

Manchester Utd have been scanning Europe for a new face up front. But, it looks like one name will no longer be part of the plan.

There were early talks and growing curiosity around Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson. However, Red Devils have now decided to step back from the deal. The club’s new head coach Ruben Amorim wants to add some new firepower. That is especially after bringing in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to the squad. Although, Amorim wants to add one more striker to round out the trio.

Meanwhile, players like Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko remain in the mix. But, Jackson is now out of the picture it seems. The 24-year-old forward had once been considered a serious option. Now, the high price tag set by Chelsea has turned Utd away.

Amorim builds forward line without Chelsea Star

As per Football Insider, Man United feel that Chelsea’s valuation of Jackson doesn’t match what they’re willing to spend. Club scout Mick Brown shared that Man Utd are not interested in paying over the odds. That is especially for a player who hasn’t fully proven himself in the PL.

Amorim is said to have doubts about both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. He wants a clinical striker to complete his forward unit. While Jackson had moments of brilliance, the Red Devils are looking for consistency and a better deal financially.

Now, Utd are likely to look for someone who fits both the playing style and the budget. The summer window is shaping up to be a busy one at Old Trafford. But, one thing’s clear, Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson won’t be part of Man Utd.
