United eye Crystal Palace captain in transfer push

Manchester United have reportedly made a formal move to sign Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi before rivals swoop in.

United step up pursuit for Crystal Palace star

Manchester Utd are stepping into this summer market with intent. Now, they are making an official approach for Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi, as per Football Transfers.

The defender has been one of the most reliable centre-backs. He has had another standout season, catching the eyes of Europe’s top clubs. Liverpool were believed to be ahead in the chase, but Man Utd’s move could change the game.

Guehi is a Chelsea academy product. He has only one year left on his contract with the Eagles. Palace have yet to secure an extension. That said, it leaves the door open for a summer exit. Sources suggest United boss Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his back line, with Guehi high on his wishlist.

With plenty of stars leaving and star players sidelined due to injury, Guehi’s arrival would be a big move.

Palace skipper open for big move

United’s approach so far is to test Palace’s resolve. They mainly want to understand the club’s asking price and the defender’s willingness to switch to Old Trafford. But, the interest seems genuine. Additionally, Palace chairman hinted Guehi could be sold after their Community Shield win over Liverpool.

At the centre-back, his stock has been raised considerably in recent months. He was outstanding in EURO 2024, helping England’s defence concede just four goals on the way to the final. He also made history by leading Palace to FA Cup glory over Manchester City in May.

The Rd Devils’ defense has struggled for consistency in recent seasons. So, this could be the statement signing to steady their ship. If Palace open the door, Old Trafford could be Guehi’s next stage.
